Possible blog changes?

Hi guys!
There are some blog related things that I've been thinking about and figured that I could talk about them before making any new posts :)

Long story short, I have been contemplating about transferring my blog to Wordpress and was wondering how would you feel about this change as a reader? I have only used Blogger for blogging so far, but after starting my media studies and getting to try out Wordpress for some school projects, I've personally started to prefer Wordpress over Blogger due to many reasons...

I read both Wordpress and Blogger blogs, and as a reader the only big difference that I have noticed is the commenting options. This got me thinking... Many people who comment on my blog are using a Blogger account, which makes it super fast and easy to comment on other Blogger blogs. But when it comes to commenting on a Wordpress blog, you'd either need to login using a Facebook, Google+ or Twitter account, or type your name and email address to comment. There are many plugins available for Wordpress, so I guess there might be some options that I'm not aware of yet, but I feel like leaving comments might be more complicated for Blogger users?

Do you guys read any Wordpress blogs and if you do, which way do you use to comment on them? Are there any other things as a reader that you like or dislike about Wordpress?

I'll probably delete this post later once I figure out what to do, but for now I'd like to hear out your opinions! ♥

  1. I think Wordpress has a lot to offer, but it will be great if you add something like mail updates or something to get notified of new posts, as Blogger does. I tend to miss a lot of Wordpress blogs updates because of this D:

Overall, Wordpress has a lot of customization options that are premade (it is easy to find templates, for example) but Blogger also has them, and I personally think Blogger is easier to code by oneself, as it needs less languages (programming languages, I mean).

I hope you can make a decision! :D

    1. That's a good point that I had completely forgotten about, so thanks for reminding me! I would definitely figure out a way to notify people of new posts :)

It's true that both Blogger and Wordpress have many templates to choose from. I have over 10 years of experience in coding websites (and I'm learning more every day at school), so the coding part would not be a problem XD In fact, I usually prefer to do most of the coding (if not all) myself for a blog too.

I hope so too hahah :D Thank you for your opinions!

  2. For me, it wouldn't make a heck of a difference as I have a Wordpress account anyway (I used to use Wordpress for blogs for other hobbies). I converted to Blogspot because I found the storage space for photos was a lot bigger than Wordpress offers (for free accounts). And I believe there are ads on free Wordpress accounts now too. Paid Wordpress accounts seem pretty good but not all the layouts are free for either accounts. Last time I checked, I believe they had some free layouts you could use but the good ones tended to be premium and you have to pay for them unless you were handy at making blog templates/layouts yourself.

I read blogs on both blogspot, wordpress and privately hosted blogs and I have never had issues commenting on any of the formats. It's really just a matter of choice which one you prefer. I've actually been thinking of hosting a Wordpress account for book/film reviews one day. I'm curious about how much has changed at Wordpress since I last used the site.

Honestly, if you want to move, I'll still read your blog whether it's here or there.

    1. Ah, I probably should've clarified that if I were to choose Wordpress, I would get my own domain and host the blog there :3 I've thought about getting a domain anyway, so it'd be handy to have the blog on a private host. I love making web layouts, so it wouldn't be a problem for me to create my own blog template from scratch XD Actually, I even prefer doing that... Or using a very simple template and editing it to look completely different.

Good to hear that you like reading both kind of blogs and commenting on them! I like both too, but I know that not everyone likes Wordpress blogs so I was curious to see what kind of thoughts people have :3 A blog for book/film reviews sounds interesting! I actually used to follow a few of those, but they stopped making new posts a long time ago...

I'm glad to hear that! Thank you for sharing your thoughts ^^

  4. I run wordpress on my website cause they offered a plugin for that and I am legit an idiot when it comes to formatting anything myself.
I have this blogger account as I follow all blogs (regardless of blogger, wordpress or whatever) via their feed so the difference for me would be minimal.

That said, I can't comment on regular X.wordpress.com blogs with the wordpress login I use on my website so I just type in my information and call it a day.

Tbh, as long as I still get to read you blog in any form, you do yours I say!

Glad to hear that you'd read the blog on either place :D

  5. I am using Wordpress myself and prefer it. Of course, I can follow blogger blogs from that account too, so it doesn't really matter.

I say go for it! :)

    1. Oh I didn't know that you can follow Blogger blogs on Wordpress, good to know that! Though I guess if you have a blog on your own hosting service, it might be a bit different? Need to do more research :D

      Thanks for the info! <3

    1. Awww thank you <3 I'm definitely leaning towards Wordpress now, though there are still lots of things that I need to figure out... (And so limited time due to school >.<)

  7. I follow blogs on both, so I'm happy with whichever works best for you.

My toy blog is on Blogger, but my Writing one is on Wordpress and I've found that Wordpress tends to be more straightforward (and less cluttered for editing).

Yeah that's exactly what people seem to prefer about Wordpress! Both are good, but there are always some differences that people can either like or dislike :)
